IMPERFECTA — the Brazilian Thrash Metal project created by guitarist and composer Nilmon Filho — emerges as a powerful result of artistic isolation during the global Covid-19 pandemic. Blending high-intensity Thrash with melodic and technically crafted riffs, Imperfecta was born to occupy a musical space that did not fit within Nilmon’s previous bands: the brutality of Killrape and the Death Metal extremity of Vengeance of Mine.
Conceived throughout the lockdown, Nilmon wrote, performed, and recorded every instrument for the debut album Broken Humanity, released via Zombie One Records and available on all streaming platforms. The album features ten tracks combining aggressive riffing, expressive solos, and a more melodic vocal approach.
“The pandemic brought death, paranoia, and depression to all of us. Isolation gave me the opportunity to fully dedicate myself to a solo project that wouldn’t sound like Killrape or Vengeance of Mine. I even pushed myself vocally into more melodic territory and handled the mix on my own. A new creative path opened with Imperfecta,” says Nilmon.
The release was supported by two singles and a lyric video. Consumed, the album’s opening track and first single, reflects the emotional collapse experienced during the pandemic. “Depression, problems, and countless struggles are consuming us more intensely each day — sometimes to the point of death,” Nilmon explains.
The second single, Redout, explores the physical phenomenon experienced by jet pilots under negative G-force, where increased blood pressure in the head may cause retinal damage or even cerebral hemorrhage.
Following the strong debut, Imperfecta entered a new chapter with the release of the single Agents of Chaos — marking a significant evolution in sound and lineup. The track introduces vocalist Marcelo Millem (The Dark Triad), whose range and dynamics allow Imperfecta to expand its melodic and expressive possibilities. “My voice always had limitations. With Marcelo, we can push further. His vocals allow me to write melodies that were once restricted to the guitars. I’m excited for what’s coming,” says Nilmon.
Agents of Chaos also features high-profile guest musicians: Bruno Sá (keyboards — known for work with Angra, Geoff Tate, Tarja Turunen, Joe Lynn Turner, among others) and Lula Washington (guitar solo), both from the renowned band Allegro. “I couldn’t believe they accepted! I used to watch Allegro perform at an incredible level while I was still recording in my bedroom. Having them on this track was an honor — they brought sophistication and finesse to Imperfecta’s thrash,” Nilmon adds.
Lyrically, Agents of Chaos delivers a sharp social critique, addressing modern “chaos agents” — individuals who spread misinformation and attack minorities worldwide. The track merges speed, intensity, and strong melodic phrasing, perfectly complementing Millem’s vocal performance.

With growing recognition and a revitalized lineup, Imperfecta stands poised to expand its presence in the contemporary metal landscape. Live performances are being considered for the post-pandemic era, as the project continues to evolve and push its musical boundaries.
